Prince deserves a Better Poem

We,
Boy or girl,
have a Prince moment.
I have a recent one.

A girlfriend fiddling with a mouse
Brings me to breakfast–
Breakfast can Wait.
We dance to YouTube.

Foreign belle in Lagos
shaking That ass to Prince
Our break-up can wait.

Michael had my heart
But if I met Billie Jean
I’ll sing Diamonds and Pearls
To her.

Ass-shaker couldn’t stay
I couldn’t sing.
Break-up wouldn’t wait.
The affair passed.

Prince has now passed.
Two days before my birthday.
If tears may be shared
It is for he who deserves
A better poem.

As for my foreign
Ass-shaker,
We’ll always have emails.
