Tuesday Poem by Dami Ajayi
At the end of this reel called life
we must fight difficult departures
sudden, even if, premeditated;
we pray that the dying that come
to the ones we love
carry the weight of meaning
& in their prescient passing,
we seek the meaning
of a life beautifully lived
in inconsolable tears,
we anchor fractal memories
we stifle sobs with lofty
aspirations of a lively afterlife.
Even if what remains is cold
And the soul has long crept away
from the grasp of corporeal perceptions.
Grief is what we the living do.
