Tuesday Poem by Remi Olutimayin
We sit under many moons in one night
that hide in each street light and headlamp
we laugh because it’s more difficult than tears
dry laughter are tears more than tears so damp
We comment about the mundane
but we know what we really mean
we talk about backsides and beer
examining the tears in our collective seam
We nurse our phones and sip in intervals
but the inhuman hustle never sleeps
we know that we must keep grinding
life and its problems play for keeps
Music in background fires up memories
buddies round the table fire up camaraderie
but we stand together and alone
help is help. Encouraging words when drowning at sea
If I told you what made me cry last night
I would tell you things familiar and strange
our experiences differ only in perception
we can’t exhaust our commonalities or their range
As we write off bills and rise from the table
the street waiting a few steps away
we internalise what we take home with us
we are our wounds that healed in our personal way
